Often trauma exposure is the raging storm in our journey towards wellbeing, affecting the people we serve, our lives and our service settings. What are the essentials and strategies for optimizing hope, healing and recovery?

This foundational two day training is designed to familiarize participants on:

(a) The neurobiological, psychosocial & moral-cultural effects of toxic stress and trauma expo-sure,
(b) The prevalence of trauma, including the results of the Iowa Adverse Childhood Experience Study results,
(c) The interplay of toxic stress/trauma, secondary trauma exposure, compassion fatigue and or-ganizational distress,
(d) The characteristics and positive impact of oper-ating as a trauma informed system, and
(e) How to avoid or mitigate trauma and re-traumatization, including universal precautions, safety (crisis prevention)  planning, self-care, and organizational practice frameworks.
