What Works Conference: “Safe + Healthy Children” [Louisiana]

The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana will host its annual What Works Conference: “Safe + Healthy Children” from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 28 at the West Monroe Convention Center.

The conference brings together leading experts who will provide various resources and commentary on ways to protect children in northeast Louisiana.

Topics will include human trafficking and internet abuse of children; infant safety; adverse childhood experiences (ACE), and more.

The conference is specialized for those who work with or care for children ages 0-18. Parents and community members are also welcome to attend.

Continuing education units (CEU) are available for educators, social workers, and counselors. There will be special tracks for Early Childhood Education and Adolescent Health.

Key note speakers include Alliece Cole of Rescue and Restore of Northeast Louisiana; Lisa Koprowski of the Department of Justice Cyber Crime Unit; Dr. Ryan Pasternak of the Louisiana State University Adolescent Medicine program; and Dr. Paula Zeanah of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Picard Center.

The cost of the conference is $100. CEUs are an additional $25. Professional level members of the Children’s Coalition receive a 50 percent off conference registration.
