Leadership skills, boundaries, and self-advocacy -This interactive training works to build the capacity to ask for meaningful consent, lean into discomfort, understand limits, set boundaries and stick to them, and put these skills into practice.
Saying no can be challenging, particularly for highly compassionate individuals. Saying no is a skill that can be learned and practiced. Being told no and responding in a manner that is respectful and kind can also be learned.
This workshop will encourage folks to be more mindful about what they are asking, how they are asking, and how they are receiving the answers. It will also encourage folks to be reflective on when they have said yes to situations that they wish they had not agreed to and flex their refusal skills.
First responders often consider consent in ways that are very legal and compliance-oriented. While this is important for following procedures, consent is far more nuanced and complex than a simple yes or no. Skills that will be practiced: Active listening, specific questions, and refusal skills.
