Hi everyone,
The year 2021 has been challenging for many. In the Caribbean, while many of our territories were able to minimise deaths from COVID 19 during 2020, the infection rate and death toll rose sharply in 2021, leaving thousands of families in mourning for the Christmas season.
Death is seldom welcome, especially at holiday times. However, difficult roads can lead to beautiful destinations. As people have come to understand there is growth that can come from childhood trauma, we look forward to the growth that will spring forth in 2022 and beyond as we collectively take stock of the most important things in life, reorder our priorities and press forward to ensure nobody is left behind in this overly competitive world in which we live. (We need to change that last part though because the unnecessary competition is causing untold and generational disadvantage and oppression for many people. But that's for another post.)
If you have lost a loved one, an opportunity, a career, a relationship or anything important to you this year, we hope you are able to process your grief and that your post traumatic growth will be spectacular as you navigate the future. Wishing you wisdom, safety, health and resilience for the New Year.
With love, from ACEs Caribbean Community!
