On Friday, August 27, 2021, at noon, I will be the guest speaker at Port of Spain Adult Library’s monthly International Men's Day Trinidad and Tobago (IMDTT) discussion. The title of my talk is The Causes and Impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in the Caribbean.
ACEs pose huge challenges across the globe. Unfortunately, not much has been done in the Caribbean to uncover the links between ACEs and many of the developmental challenges we face. My presentation will highlight some of the connections between ACEs, toxic stress, and some children’s academic weaknesses and disruptive behaviours, with a particular focus on ‘the boy child.’
In 2019, members of IMDTT felt their messages needed to reach a wider audience. They subsequently teamed up with the National Library (NALIS) to have a 'Distinguished Monthly Lecture.' I’m honoured to participate. Please join us if you can.
