Hi everyone and welcome to another Wellness Wednesday!
Today we have an account from a psychiatrist who, after many years studying trauma and the experiences of trauma victims, had the misfortune to become one himself. In a rather dramatic turn of events,
was shot by a former co-worker and survived to write about it and to grow from the experience. In his own words, he describes how the situation challenged him to dig deep and uncover the resilience he needed to take him through the ordeal - "I had studied trauma victims for decades to understand resilience and find new treatments for mood and anxiety disorders like depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Now I was the trauma victim. Lying in the intensive care unit of my own hospital, I struggled to find my own resilience. I would have to take my own medicine by applying what I call The Resilience Prescription to my personal trauma."
It is a gripping tale and we urge you to read the full article at the link below - https://www.statnews.com/2021/...19-traumatic-events/
However, we also want to encourage you to take time to download and use the Resilience Prescription to which Dr. Charney referred.
A copy of it is available in our Resources section at the following link - https://www.pacesconnection.co...iption-promotion-pdf
