Ana Joanes, the Director of the film, Wrestling Ghosts has a new podcast series and it's fantastic. If you are hungry for honest conversations about developmental trauma, healing, how ACEs impact children and the adults we become, you will want to tune in.
The most recent guest is Sebern Fisher, author of Neurofeedback for Developmental Trauma: Calming the Fear-Driven Brain. It's one of the best interviews I've heard with Sebern (and I've listened to lots).
There are interviews with varied guests, most who are survivors, and also may lead non-profits, co-edit anthologies, create music, and provide training to parents and others who care about the well-being of families and communities. Some guests publish books, articles, or simply speak honestly about the complexities in parenting, partnership, and inhabiting our full selves after traumatic stress, early adversity, and while in systems and settings that do not always center the voice and perspective of those with lived expertise.
Here's how Ana describes the show on her blog: "Healing Our Ghosts shines a light into the suffering we keep hidden. We are not alone in our struggles and when we share our pain, we lift the shame secrecy that keeps us alone and disconnected from each other and prevents us from healing."
This podcast is refreshing as it invites guests to speak from the wisdom of personal and professional experiences and how deeply and often they inform each other, blend, and intersect. Here's the guests and topics covered in 2019:
- Heal Childhood Trauma with Neurofeedback Sebern Fisher
- The Link Between Childhood Trauma and Sexual Abuse in Adulthood Louise Godbold
- Parenting with PTSD Joyelle Brandt
- When Nothing Else Worked...Elizabeth Kemler
- Release Trauma with EFT Victor Lee Lewis
- How To Live On Earth When You Raised In Hell? Cissy White
