I Have a Voice: Caregiver Advocacy Series

The I Have a Voice: Caregiver Advocacy Series, led by Tamika Daniel, Behavioral Health Community Organizer with Greater Richmond SCAN, is a discussion series featuring stories and helpful tips about how caregivers can and do advocate for themselves, their children, and systemic change. As a bridge builder who empowers others and a parent with lived experience advocating for herself and her children, Tamika brings her own unique voice and skills to each conversation. The series premiered on Facebook Live in November 2020 with bi-weekly offerings through the end of the year. Topics included an Introduction to Advocacy, Advocacy and Mental Health, Advocacy and Education, and Advocating for Yourself, with professionals working in those fields and fellow caregivers engaging in lively discussion. The series returns on Wednesday, March 10 at 7:00 pm on Greater Richmond SCAN’s Facebook with a focus on advocating for Black youth. View the full schedule and catch each conversation every other Wednesday at 7:00 pm EST or at your convenience on SCAN’s YouTube channel.
