France's Early Learning / Positive Parenting Train set to launch tomorrow
"I'm not sure I like that metaphor!" Nathalie exclaimed. "I don't want to be burned at the stake!" I had just compared Nathalie to Joan of Arc, the symbol - for me - of the person willing to trust their inspired vision "against all odds," the person not fazed by the prospect of being considered crazy if it can just help to advance awareness of a new reality about which the general population is only dimly aware. Nathalie Casso-Vicarini is the creative genius behind France's Early...

Re: ACEs-, Trauma-Informed, and Resilience-Building Parenting Programs
Hello ACES in Parenting Group! May I ask for your input, please? I'm the Director of the Texas Cooperative Parenting Course for Divorce in Austin, Texas. It is a mandatory course for many parents in Texas who have minor children, and they must take our course (or a similar one) and present a certificate of completion to the court before the judge will grant their divorce. The goal is to equip parents with problem-solving skills to end conflict, positively co-parent, and help their children...

Re: Resource List -- Parent Training
Hi Joan, At this point I believe the majority of the Parenting with ACEs group members may be professionals helping parents recover from ACEs, however, as it is said within the ACEs community, "we are them."

Re: It Makes Sense
Hi Jennifer, Mary Sharrow and I (Peace4Tarpon) and Dr. Greg Williams (author of "Shattered by the Darkness") were at the ACEs Connection table the first day of the conference and had an experience similar to yours. Mary and I couldn't believe that only one person we spoke with had heard of the ACE study and no one we talked with was familiar with ACEs Connection. We live and breathe ACEs day after day so its easy to assume that just about everyone working in the field of mental health would...

Attachment Parenting helping to prevent ACEs
The ACE study has demonstrated how impactful adverse childhood experiences are on an individual; impacting mental, emotional and social growth as well as negatively affecting physical health. In recent years professionals have turned their focus to the prevention of ACEs and one thing stands out. We must address the intergenerational transmission of these adverse experiences. But how do we do that? One of the answers lies in our parenting skills. Research has shown that early life...
