Description:
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Various sessions will offer a host of opportunities to learn or extend your knowledge Attendees will have an opportunity to attend workshops that will provide them with strategies, coping mechanisms, and learn about resources that are available to assist with getting through these challenging times. The exhibit hall will feature a host of agencies and district departments that support families with creating balance and achieve desired outcomes.

OCPS Parent Academy
Research shows that students achieve more when parents are involved in their childβs education. In order to provide families with a vehicle to empower them and their children. The OCPS Parent Academy is an educational program designed to enhance student achievement through the support of community and family engagement. The programβs purpose is to strengthen and build capacity of families.
Workshops are conducted by experts from the district, school-based personnel and community partners. Parents will receive an array of support for their children and themselves.
The face-to-face academies focus on three primary tracks:
- Student Achievement
- Parenting and Advocacy
- Personal and Individual Growth
Note:
Free for all families
Special accommodations provided to children of participating parents. Children of participating parents have an opportunity to attend the Youth Academy. The Youth Academy follows the same schedule as the adult sessions. The Youth Academy is for students ages 4 to 18. Registration required for children and parents must attend adult sessions.
