The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH), in conjunction with the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (FADAA), would like to invite you to a FREE webinar. Up to 2.0 CEUs are available at no cost.

Description: There is a strong correlation between substance use and trauma exposure. Approximately 70% of those who have a substance use disorder have a history of trauma exposure. Despite the strong evidence of a connection, for many people the traumatic experiences of their past go unrecognized as part of the substance use behavior. Taking both the trauma and the substance abuse into account is critical to recovery. This presentation will be focused on substance use as a type of coping strategy for dealing with the emotional stress and pain that occurs as a result of unresolved trauma.
