YOUTHRIVE OVERVIEW
This Course provides a high level overview of the Youthrive Framework, which focuses on strategies that enable us to work with and view our Youth from a Strengths-Based Perspective and the role that Trauma/Toxic Stress/Adverse Childhood Experiences/Social Determinants of Health and Culture play in Adolescent Development. Participants will be given an opportunity to complete their own ACES Survey. An in-depth discussion of the connection between ACES and the Protective/Promotive Factors occurs whereby participants will understand the power/promise of the Promotive/Protective Factors as mitigators of Risk. Participants will engage in activities/exercises throughout the day which will enable them to understand how to apply each Protective and Promotive Factors in support of the development and well-being of Youth. They will also learn about elements of Trauma Informed Organizations, Programs and Policies and will be asked to create a self- reflection plan to utilize the framework in their personal practices.
Learners Learning Goals:
- Learn about the Youthrive Project, History, Goals and Guiding Principles
- Learn about the role that Trauma/Toxic Stress/Adverse Childhood Experiences/Social Determinants of Health and Culture play in Adolescent Development
- Discuss how each Protective and Promotive Factor supports development and well-being of Youth.
- Learn about the Elements of Trauma Informed Care Organizations, Programs and Policies.
- Create a Self-Reflection Plan to utilize the framework in your personal practice.
