Homeless Humans of Tacoma is a humanitarian mission founded by Patti Ramos, Tacoma resident, birth doula and freelance documentary photographer. Patti writes:
"One of the most impactful experiences in my life is this humanitarian street outreach I was inspired to create in February of 2016. The enlightening conversations and encounters I have shared with folks who are experiencing homelessness in Tacoma/Olympia and throughout my travels in California, Arizona, Texas, New Orleans and Grays Harbor have forever changed me.
My hope is that through the personal stories and photos, Homeless Humans of Tacoma will help to inform and enlighten our community of the challenges of homelessness including a deeper sense of the extent of the suffering, pain, loneliness, isolation, depression, hardships and illness the homeless community deals with on a daily basis. With more understanding and awareness, it is my dream that those of us with the ability, will be inclined to get involved and unite as a village of caring citizens who can make a positive difference in the lives of those who struggle to survive on a daily basis by helping to alleviate suffering and maintain their human dignity."
Patti goes on to describe ways we can help in "Our Story"
