Moama Anglican Grammar School
“AT MOAMA Anglican Grammar we recognise the importance of the connection between mental health and learning,” said Libby Barnes, head of pastoral care at the young co-educational school.
The school, on the Murray River north of Echuca, strives to help students from Kindergarten to Year 12 with resilience, wellbeing and community issues, and mindfulness is a core focus. Its pastoral care program includes age-appropriate, social-emotional lessons to reinforce health.
“We place an emphasis on support by creating positive, well established student-teacher relationships,” Ms Barnes said.
In primary school, guided meditation, audio stories, and visualisation are used to slow down and relax the mind and body.
