Our therapeutic activity books for youth, and resources for the adults who serve them transform pain into possibility for young people around the world. Now in our third decade, we’ll reach 3.5 million more kids through our innovative online learning community and through collaboration with many personal, unique partnerships.
Join certified trainer Lulu Vernueil, LICSW for 4-hour training will be focused on Art with Heart's curriculum and therapeutic activity book developed for elementary-aged kids called Draw It Out (DIO). Draw it Out is a therapeutic activity book for elementary-aged kids experiencing complex and confusing emotions. Draw It Out provides a creative vehicle for developing a visual and verbal vocabulary for loss, as well as a supportive structure to teach social and emotional learning (SEL) strategies while building resilience. During this training, you will explore the DIO curriculum through a few art activities, discussion, and implementation that will have you set up to use our resources with kids right away.
Objectives:
- Learn how to use AwH resources to facilitate a creative expression program
- Identify best practices for leading creative expression activities with kids
- Build comfort using a variety of art materials and methods
- Understand and experience how creative expression helps kids name and manage their emotions, develop strategies for coping, and build resilience for long term health and happiness
