Now more than ever, educators need help deepening their capacity for self-regulation. Join us for an educator training in the trauma-informed movement unlike any other...
The Regulated Classroom: "Bottom-Up" Trauma-Informed Teaching was developed by Emily Read Daniels after her 20 years of helping staff and students learn to cope and self-regulate. The approach is adapted from her training and experience with Somatic Experiencing™, Responsive Classroom™, Project Adventure™, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction™.
The Regulated Classroom is a teacher/practitioner-centric approach to creating a connected and behaviorally regulated class. Educators learn to bolster their resilience and their students with tools and exercises that regulate the body's stress response system or nervous system.
Workshop participants explore sensory tools and four kinds of classroom practices (Connectors, Activators, Soothers, Affirmations) that regulate the nervous system. Educators are then encouraged to embed these stress regulation practices into their daily classroom routines.
The underlying premise of The Regulated Classroom is that if an educator is regulated in his/her nervous system, he/she can assist children in regulating theirs. A well-regulated nervous system creates the conditions for learning - emotional stability, impulse control, deliberate decision-making, and conscious awareness.
