The Student Taskforce on ACEs and Resilience (STAR) is an interdisciplinary, intercollegiate network of health students in Georgia dedicated to equipping the next generation of health professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to improve the care of people impacted by ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences). Each year, we host a Trauma-Informed Care Conference to help educate the next generation of leaders and build a strong network of Trauma-Informed professionals in the state of Georgia. The goal of the conference is to bring together professionals and students from different academic institutions and fields (education, medicine, nursing, public health, criminal justice, and social work) to build practical skills that can be applied in interactions with people who may have suffered acute and/or chronic trauma. This year, we are hosting our conference virtually, free of charge for all who would like to attend - and we will be emphasizing interdisciplinary learning by hosting sessions exploring trauma-informed systems of healthcare, criminal justice, and education, and featuring speakers on ACEs and social justice.
