Ending Child Poverty Now (Children's Defense Fund)

On Wednesday, the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) released a new report titled, “Ending Child Poverty Now.”

In conjunction with the report release, the Academy joined CDF for a press conference on the announcement. Representing the AAP, Tina Cheng, MD, MPH, FAAP, chair of the AAP Committee on Pediatric Research, emphasized the need to reduce childhood poverty and its serious health consequences by supporting programs and policies aimed at improving the health outcomes of children and families living in poverty, including WIC, SNAP and CHIP.

The AAP has long believed that child poverty is a major issue for the Academy and Threatens Children's Health
