Hey everyone, here is a report that I just received from a listserv in my MPH program. Seems very interesting!
Given the impact of poverty and social inequality on health and health inequities, members of this list may be interested in a new report recently released by the Children's Defense Fund. Based on an analysis by the Urban Institute, Ending Child Poverty Now<http://endingchildpovertynow.org> shows that the US could reduce child poverty 60 percent, and Black child poverty 72 percent, just by investing an additional 2 percent of the budget to expand nine programs that work, including nutrition assistance, refundable tax credits, and housing assistance. The report shows there is much more we could be doing right now to address the fact that the U.S. has one of the highest child poverty rates among industrialized countries. More details are available here<www.endingchildpovertynow.org>.
