An Immersive Experience
Helping Women Recover focuses primarily on recovery, emphasizing the key issues of self, relationships, sexuality, spirituality, and the trauma-informed therapeutic techniques for dealing with these issues. Helping Men Recover addresses what is often missing in prevailing treatment models: a clear understanding of the impact of male socialization on the recovery process, a consideration of client's relational needs, and a focus on the issues of abuse and trauma.
Dr. Covington’s immersive learning model goes beyond simply interactive and provides opportunities to practice and apply new skills as attendees are trained as group facilitators using the participant workbook. The core addiction and recovery treatment interventions allow attendees to experience the curriculum as a client would, engaging in the activities as a group member, to develop a deeper sense of emotional responses – both potential clients’ and their own.
