#1 Top Story of 2018: ANTHC opens Walk-in Clinic for non-emergent health care services

An important part of ANTHC’s plan to achieve our vision is to provide the right care at the right time in the right place. As our Alaska Native population continues to grow, demand for health services at ANMC also increases and ANTHC is improving access by creating more clinical space.

For our patients living outside of the Anchorage Service Unit, ANTHC now offers a new specialty clinic, the Walk-in Clinic, for non-emergent health care services for our people while visiting Anchorage.

ANTHC opens ANMC’s 25th specialty clinic, the Walk-in Clinic, to meet these urgent health needs for the people we serve. ANMC’s Walk-in Clinic is available for patients of all ages who have an illness or injury that needs immediate care but are not experiencing a medical emergency.

Examples of reasons to visit the Walk-in Clinic at ANMC include:

  • Medication refills
  • Vaccinations
  • Fever and dehydration
  • School and Dept. of Transportation physicals
  • Sinus and ear infections
  • Sore throats and colds
  • Cuts and minor skin infections
  • Muscle strains and sprains
  • Urinary tract infections and STI testing

The Walk-in Clinic is staffed with nurse practitioners, certified medical assistants and medical clerks. The clinic is located on the third floor of the Healthy Communities Building, 3900 Ambassador Drive. The Walk-in Clinic is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The Walk-in Clinic phone number is (907) 729-1500. For more information, visit http://anmc.org/services/walk-in-clinic/.

As the specialty care hospital for the Alaska Tribal Health System, our growth at ANMC focuses on improving access to care for our people, while also enhancing the quality and experience of the care we provide. We are living longer and healthier lives, and ANMC has played a significant role in that improvement. Since 1997, ANTHC has invested in growth and improvements at ANMC in renovation and building projects that are the equivalent of constructing the ANMC hospital three times over.
