A few folks asked for this while we were doing the final revision so I wanted to post the final product - Healthcare Standards of Practice for Trauma Informed Care. Oregon Health Sciences University Department of Family Medicine, Oregon Pediatric Society, and other healthcare partners reviewed and modified for healthcare settings the original Trauma Informed Oregon's Standards of Practice. The Standards (original and healthcare) are intended to provide benchmarks for planning and monitoring progress and a means to highlight accomplishments. We recommend use of this tool by multilevel teams within organizations.
We will be providing a 'how we use them' on our website soon but in short -
1. An organization starts with noting how they are currently meeting each standard that is relevant to their work to identify what is already happening.
2. Next is to use that information to 'rate' if they are doing none, a little, some, or a lot.
3. Use this to make a long range plan for change.
There is more information on the website and on the standards document.
