When employees are celebrated, they tend to have a greater connection to their work and sense of being valued. As more people are working from home, alternating days in the office and practicing social distancing, employees can begin to feel disconnected. Creating opportunities for engagement may also be challenging for organizations navigating remote working environments. Over the past month, Benchmarks’ Partnering for Excellence (PFE) and Standardized Assessment Protocol (SAP) teams have been hard at work creating ways to engage and recognize the efforts of our DSS partners.
A great way to establish passive engagement is by creating bulletin boards in areas where staff frequent. Benchmarks’ Coordinators posted “Praise Boards” to celebrate the Social Workers on the front lines of implementing PFE and SAP projects. Mary Trimpi, PFE Project Coordinator for Pitt and Craven Counties, stated that “Social Workers commented on how it really brightened the area and that they appreciated the thought that went into the boards.” As an additional thank you, Coordinators passed out personalized notes called “TiC TaCs” to social workers celebrating their Trauma Informed and Trauma Aware work!
Praise boards are just one way to encourage and celebrate employees. However you choose to engage your staff, it will go a long way towards fostering deeper connections to your organizations mission, vision, values, and goals.
