"Healing the Wound That Won't Heal: the Reality of Trauma." This book chronicles my work to uncover and understand the trauma of my infancy. My father was suffering extreme shell-shock from WWII. He was too ill to be left alone, yet I was left with him every day while my mother worked as a waitress. When I was thirteen-months-old I watched him die on the floor in front of my crib.

I am having a very difficult time right now. I have emotional flashbacks, when I plummet into feelings of terror, helplessness, and grief. I hope someone sees this and reaches out.

I did go to Amazon to take a look at this book of Jo's.  Everyone who has read it gives it high praise for the subject and the writing.  I am only a public reader and member of PACE but have a few things I would love to mention to you Jo.

If you have not started any therapy yet, this is always a good place to start. Therapists are savvy now about trauma in childhood and may be able to point you to some other therapies that haven't been utilized by you yet.  Families Anonymous has a wonderful program also and it is a free service

We just had a week intensive with Dr. Gabor Mate who specializes in trauma in childhood and beyond.  He has a YouTube channel and is very popular and knowledgeable in trauma.  We must begin somewhere in recovery and unfortunately most of that beginning is right in the middle of the pain that you have been living with now for years.  The difference with recovery is that once you begin on a path of healing, the past loses its grip on you to only feel pain or sadness or trauma.  We learn in therapy that even along with pain and sadness there is even a happiness or peace that can be found.  It is hard won happiness but it is worth the work that you put into it.

Peace to you Jo, I hope you can find some help or hope with this message today
