Have you ever felt you have painted yourself into a corner?  Better stated perhaps, find yourself standing in the crosshairs of your own truth.  Well, that’s me and here we  are. In the last year, I have been going through a rebranding process, still the same heart, still the same mission, but a tweak to messaging and language so it was clear what the work was ultimately about.  Simultaneously, I have been stewarding the completion of my book, my own story.  Now, here I sit ready to pull the trigger on the book and as the reality becomes ever close – I mean let your guard down, get naked kind of reality - old messaging attempts to creep in. “What will others think?” “Will I be judged?” “Could this negatively impact my work?”  I think Brene’ Brown calls it my professional armor.  But, if I am who I say I am, then what choice do I have, right?  I must move forward.  If I don’t tell my own story, then how can I authentically ask others to partner and champion with me to ensure that other stories are told. 

My childhood trauma found itself against the backdrop of religious and racial tensions, the aftermath that impacted my life in a myriad of ways and for many years.  In my book, LOST: Finding My Way Back to a Place I’ve Never Been, the reader journeys through parts of my story to learn the innerworkings of the trauma taking place in a way they can pick up and apply to their own.  We all have a story to tell.  I can’t tell your story and you can’t tell mine, but they are both worth being told. What we can do, hopefully, is to learn from each other. The book is hopefully written in a way that can be used within small groups and comes with a guidebook.  If you are interested and can make the time, I would love for you to join my book launch.
