Just Get Over It - Healing Childhood Trauma in Adulthood -

“Get over it” is a cruel phrase. It means, “Not only do I not care about how you feel, if you were smarter, you wouldn’t care either.” “

Just get over it” places all of the responsibility on the person being told, and establishes the teller as the authority. It liberates the teller from any obligation to listen.

And people not listening is usually where things go wrong.” - Kate Fridkis

SORROW” © Michael Skinner

I know a man of sorrow, I met such a man today

A man of constant sorrow, how did he get this way?

Yet when I tried to talk to him, he didn’t have much to say

Except for these words now written, as he slowly walked away

Except for these words now written, as he slowly walked away

You take what a man holds dear

You take that all away

All those things he believed in

Taken all away

Then you might find, then you might see

The answer to the question within

Is it just our destiny, is it written on the wind?

To dwell in misery, this he chose not to seek

Yet how many times can a man be broken down

And still he holds up his chin

Not to commiserate in misery, but to find some inner peace

And yet despite all of this, still he holds up his chin

Yet despite all of this, still he holds up his chin

  • Bridge- repeat

Then you might find, then you might see

The answer to the question within

Dreams and hopes from yesterday, to never see them again

Then you might find, then you might see

The answer to the question within

Dreams and hopes from yesterday

Are they just dust in the wind?

Ooh…ooh…

People say think happy thoughts and it will all just go away

People say sing happy songs and this will all just go away

Let me take from you, all that you hold dear

Then I want to hear you sing, I want to hear you sing loud and clear

Yeah, I want to hear you sing, I want to hear you sing loud and clear

Can you sing to me ….please, Can you sing to me……please
