From The Authors Guild, April 2022
The Authors Guild is excited to launch our new virtual Banned Books Club on social reading app Fable.
Each month the Authors Guild Banned Books Club will present a different work of fiction or nonfiction recently barred in one or more U.S. school districts or states. Participating readers can log on to Fable anytime during that month to access the moderated book discussion, including valuable resources to help them get the most out of the reading experience. Each book’s author will lead the discussion─or if the author is deceased, a well-known writer who has a special affinity with the work─to help readers understand the story and find their own meaning in it.
Among the award-winning authors confirmed to participate so far are David Levithan (Two Boys Kissing); Kiese Laymon (Heavy); Jonathan Evison (Lawn Boy); Heidi Durrow (The Girl Who Fell from the Sky); Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely (All American Boys); Ashley Hope Perez (Out of Darkness); Jacqueline Woodson (Red at the Bone); and Laurie Halse Anderson (Shout).
