Announcing CalTrin!

The California Training Institute (CalTrin) exists to provide a comprehensive, science-based professional education program to meet the needs of administrators, staff and stakeholders of the Family Resource Centers (FRCs), Child Abuse Prevention Councils (CAPCs), and child welfare agencies in the state of California.

CalTrin is managed by the Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego Evidence-Based Practices Team, which also manages the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC).

The California Family Resource Association (CFRA) is pleased to announce that they are now offering a monthly training program for Family Resource Centers, Networks and partners in the family strengthening field. Training topics include the Protective Factors Framework, Building Equity and Advocacy. 1. Introduction To The Protective Factors Framework:
2/9 @1pm; 3/23 @9am; 4/13 @1pm; 5/25 @9am; 6/8 @1pm; 7/27 @9am.

The Strengthening Family™ Framework and its Five Protective Factors provide a common language widely adopted across organizations, networks, systems, and communities.  Serving as a powerful bridge between service providers and families, the Framework and its Protective Factors offer practical tools that are readily integrated into programs, services, and systems. The Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) conducted significant evidence-based research on the Framework and the Protective Factors, providing a vigorous foundation that has notably contributed to the growing legitimacy of the family strengthening field.

Cost of training is $25 for CFRA members/$50 for non-members.

2. FRCs: Vehicles of Social Change:
2/23 @9am; 3/9 @1pm; 4/27 @9pm; 5/11 @1pm; 6/22 @9am; 7/13 @1pm

FRCs can be agents of social change through a variety of advocacy efforts, from education to lobbying. This training will describe the factors that have contributed to the growth and development of FRCs and how they have responded to the growing body of research and best practice, while remaining anchored in a deep and rich history invested in the well-being of children, families, and communities.

Cost of training is $25 for CFRA members/$50 for non-members.
