Timely Action for Navigating Youth Mental Health Services in Medi-Cal Managed Care and Schools
In January, the Governor’'s proposed Budget set aside $400 million for Medi-Cal Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) to support mental health services in schools. This webinar will help education and youth advocates understand the role of MCOs and how to leverage funding opportunities to help our youth heal and thrive.
The interactive session will:
- Provide an overview of California’s Medi-Cal Managed Care system.
- Share lived experience as youth talk about challenges in accessing California’s mental health system, and discuss what they are doing to improve it.
- Offer perspectives from school-based counselors on providing mental health services in the school setting, including during the pandemic.
- Discuss the big picture on the intersection of health and education, including financing considerations.
- Provide recommendations on how to advocate for improvements through the Medi-Cal managed care plan re-procurement process (the first in 17 years).
