The spread of COVID-19 is impacting everyone, and every corner of life, but it is particularly devastating for children and families that were in crisis before this pandemic, including far too many kids who were not receiving the supports and services they needed before this pandemic began. These programs are now even more essential to ensuring our collective future.
Governor Newsom’s May Revise budget proposal outlines dire budget cuts to early childhood, education, health and child welfare. While the state faces an extraordinary fiscal situation, if enacted, these cuts will have a devastating impact on California children.
Please join the more than 760 organizations that already signed on to this letter urging state leaders to prioritize kids in the upcoming 2020-21 state budget. It's now even more important to advocate that crucial children’s programs and services be held harmless and targeted supports be increased as much as possible.
Together, we can ensure that as we emerge from this crisis, we protect our most precious constituency – our kids – and make them California’s top priority.
