Webinar: Key findings from the Listening to Mothers in California Survey

Webinar: Key findings from the Listening to Mothers in California Survey. For more information and to register, please see below.  Webinar is Thursday, September 20, from 12-1:00 PM

In 2017, a team led by the National Partnership for Women & Families
surveyed more than 2,500 women in California about their views and
experiences with childbirth. The results, which will be released September
12, reveal what is and isn't working with maternity care in the Golden
State.

Join us Thursday, September 20, from 12-1:00 PM (PT) for a discussion of key
survey findings from the Listening to Mothers in California survey.
Presenters will include Carol Sakala, PhD, director of Childbirth Connection
programs at the National Partnership for Women & Families, and Eugene R.
Declercq, PhD, professor of community health at Boston University, who led
the survey team.

The research is based on the highly respected and widely cited national
Listening to Mothers surveys, and this marks the first time the survey has
been conducted at the state level and in Spanish. The event is designed for
media, state and national policymakers, researchers, advocates, and anyone
interested in the health and health care of childbearing women and infants.

Thank you for sharing this report, Bonnie!  Hearing from women and families not only provides powerful insights but is also an empowering experience for mothers who share their experiences especially with the goal of improved care.

In the past, as a public health nurse, I always found this report insightful. Copied below is a link to the report. The chapter on women's "Respectful and Disrespectful Treatment" (page 64) is insightful.  As are many other chapters.

LINK: Listening to Mothers in California: A POPULATION-BASED SURVEY OF WOMEN’S CHILDBEARING EXPERIENCES
Listening to Mothers investigators at the National Partnership for Women & Families and the Boston University School of Public Health collaborated with investigators at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Center on Social Disparities in Health and the Quantum Market Research, Inc. survey research firm to develop and carry out Listening to Mothers in California.

In the most dreamy world ... how might this report look in the future ... if an ACEs champion was on the planning and implementation committee?!
