Far too many men in the United States are impacted by stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges to their mental wellbeing—and this is particularly true for boys and men of color, military service members, and veterans. That’s why Prevention Institute works with the Movember Foundation and 13 community coalitions throughout the US on a national initiative called Making Connections for Mental Health and Wellbeing Among Men and Boys.
Making Connections coalitions in 13 urban, rural, and suburban communities throughout the country are implementing community-level prevention strategies to improve neighborhood conditions, strengthen community resilience, and increase social connectedness. Their efforts reflect community priorities and draw on each community’s culture, knowledge, and assets.
The Movember Foundation raises funds for Making Connections and other programs to prevent suicide among men and boys through an annual campaign called Movember that brings together people from around the world to focus on men’s health and mental health.
