Please join the Junior League of Los Angeles(JLLA) for its annual Civic Leadership Forum(CLF) on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School. JLLA will bring together JLLA members and community members to explore the barriers to education for Los Angeles County foster youth. This year's CLF is titled Don’t Forget About Me: Exploring Challenges Facing Our Foster Youth in the Education System.The forum will feature keynote speaker, SENATOR HOLLY J. MITCHELL, and a panel of experts from CASA-LA and United Friends of the Children and is designed to empower attendees to become strong community advocates.

THE TOPIC
In Los Angeles County, there are more than 28,000 youth in foster care. Academically, these foster youth experience challenges that go unresolved, making them one of our county’s most vulnerable populations. Foster youth graduation rates, for example, are impacted by the effects of trauma, multiple school transfers, and school absences. These unique academic challenges, along with unemployment rates, influence their economic well-being as adults. JLLA is committed to ensuring foster youth are not forgotten in our educational system, but instead receive the support they need to succeed in and outside of the classroom. Through the 2019 Civic Leadership Forum, you can be part of the conversation and solution to improving the educational outcomes of local foster youth.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Free parking is available. However, we encourage carpooling as parking is limited. Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School is also conveniently located near the Hollywood / Western Station. You can exit at Western Ave and it's a 7-minute walk to the campus.
