In this webinar, participants will learn about one FQHC’s experience in integrating trauma-informed care through an inward-facing approach within healthcare clinics. Attendees will explore lessons learned from the process including what was helpful and what could have been done differently to better support staff and patients. Adaptations related to COVID-19 will be discussed. The perspective of the trauma-informed care coordinator, clinical director, and clinic manager will be offered.
By the end of this training participations will be able to:
• Identify strengths and barriers of integrating a trauma-informed approach within the medical setting
• Explore lessons learned from taking an inward-facing approach within the medical setting
• Recognize COVID-19 modifications that were made to the process
• Discuss any questions with medical staff involved in the process

Speaker Biographies:
Andi Fetzer, PsyD, Andi’s mantra is “you don’t have to be a therapist to be therapeutic.” Working in social service for almost 20 years prior to joining the Eisner Health team as the trauma-informed care coordinator, Andi was frequently frustrated with the lack of coordination between clients and the various systems serving them. When she learned about the ACEs framework and trauma-informed approach, a lightbulb went off and in 2013, she shifted her focus from clinical practice to training across sectors to amplify this approach to care. Andi has a BA in political science, an MA in community counseling, and a doctorate in clinical psychology. At Eisner Health, Andi focuses on supporting the integration of this approach within the organizational and clinical practices to support both staff and patients. Her clinical training and personal history as a survivor of childhood trauma inform her unique perspective on training. She lives in Los Angeles with her two dogs and enjoys yoga, good food, and outdoor adventures.
Christina Hillson, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician with Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center. She holds expertise in family medicine and obstetrics and gynecology, including abdominal disorders, bone disorders, brain disorders, breast diseases, chronic pelvic pain, encounters for normal pregnancies, hypertension, osteoporosis, thrombosis, uterine diseases, uterine fibroids, and vaginal and pelvic prolapse. Dr. Hillson graduated with her medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in 2006, completed her residency at Jefferson Community Medical, and has experience in training residents, giving her over 15 years of experience in her field. She joined the Eisner team in October of 2014 as a provider and now leads the Family Medical Clinic in Lynwood, CA.
