In the United States, black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy or childbirth.
Join the Solano Commission for Women and Girls as we partner with Birth and Postpartum Doula Davon Crawford to host "Birth Justice Solano 2022: Education, Awareness, and Solutions Towards Better Birth Outcomes."
This free virtual event will include:
Education from a panel of experts including a doula, a lactation consultant, and maternal mental health therapist, on black maternal and infant health disparities and solutions;
Storytelling from mothers who have lived experience; and
Empowerment and action through strategizing how to reduce the maternal and infant health disparity in Solano County and achieve Birth Justice.
Spoken word from Vallejo's Poet Laureate
A visual scribe will be present to capture the days events graphically in realtime.
There will also be raffles throughout the day!
We would love for you to attend and share this event within your network of influence so that we can raise community awareness around this issue.
