The California Initiative for Health Equity and Action aims to facilitate a productive discussion on the policies and practices that disrupt upstream determinants of family & community violence. Through a moderated discussion, we hope to continue a conversation around reframing domestic and intimate partner violence in terms of its structural determinants.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to bolster economic supports, access to affordable housing, and other fundamental necessities in low-income and minoritized communities. Cal-IHEA hopes to continue this dialogue by highlighting how these interventions can serve as primary and equity-focused primary preventative measures for family and community violence, while also protecting and supporting survivors of violence in California, especially in communities of color.
We look forward to uniting agency leaders, legislators, advocates and direct service providers across sectors in the interest of elevating work on how California can advance policies that result in a safer, healthier, and more equitable California.
