I would like to invite you (and your colleagues) to attend the 2018 Elevating Maternal Paternal, Child and Adolescent Health in Communities of Color Conference at The California Endowment Conference Center in DTLA at 1000 S. Alameda St., LA, CA 90012.
What’s happening?
On March 5, 2018, an ad-hoc coalition of racially and ethnically diverse experts in public health; mental health; domestic and intimate partner violence; maternal, paternal, child and adolescent health; fatherhood; infant health; injury, violence and violence prevention; and philanthropy will convene to discuss ‘elevating maternal, paternal, child and adolescent health in communities of color’.
What is the purpose of the event?
This full day conference is designed to dive deep into the challenges and impending opportunities to elevate maternal, paternal, child and adolescent health, public health, mental health, and wellbeing in communities of color. The event will highlight specific strategies to improve health, safety and well-being.
Who’ll be speaking at the event and what will they discuss?
Dr. Randal Henry, Founder/Chief Intelligence Officer, Community Intelligence will discuss putting the paternal back into maternal, child and adolescent health in the opening address; Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith, Dean/Professor of Medicine, Charles Drew University Medical School will discuss challenges and opportunities to elevating health in communities of color in the keynote address; plenary panelists will discuss key issues maternal, paternal, child and adolescent health in communities of color and the role of philanthropy in domestic violence; workshops will address the importance of fatherhood, black infant health, handguns and DV, futures without violence, positive social/racial development; bullying and interpersonal violence; the impact of poverty; and, statewide approaches to addressing DV.
