Housing Stability, the Pandemic, and Our Health: Health Department, Local Government and Community Strategies to Improve Health During COVID-19

Brought to you by:

All Children Thrive (ACT), the National Association of County and City Health Officers (NACCHO), and the Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative (BARHII)

As millions of Americans shelter in place, it’s clear that very little matters as much as a safe, stable home. This is especially true for our children. Decades of public health research show that conditions during pregnancy and early childhood are some of the most important factors influencing lifetime health—affecting physical well-being and educational and behavioral outcomes. The COVID-19 pandemic adds new importance to housing stability for children, families, and our communities. We all have roles to play in improving housing stability and reducing the risks of COVID-19.

Join BARHII’s Housing Impact Manager Will Dominie for this in-depth workshop to learn:

  • How housing stability impacts health, COVID-19 infection risks, and equity

  • Successful strategies that local health department leaders, city and county staff, and community-based organizations have used to improve housing stability and health—including BARHII’s “Five Ps of healthy housing”

This workshop is for ACT-California teams, local health department staff, community members and organizations, local elected officials, and everyone interested in the health of our children and families.
