THE ACE STUDY AND THE PROGRESSIVE NATURE
OF ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES:
"Building Self-Healing Communities"
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 22, 2015
You're invited to attend an engaging and informative seminar with renowned guest speaker Dr. Robert Anda
The ACE Study demonstrates the relationship of childhood abuse, neglect, domestic violence and related experiences to health outcomes across the lifespan of more than 17,000 members of the Kaiser Health Plan.
The findings are consistent with recent discoveries about the neurobiology of stress and the effect of stress on neurodevelopment and other aspects of human biology.
The ACE Study makes the case that childhood adversity, and the resulting toxic stress, is the most significant public health problem facing our country. As the number of ACEs increases so does the likelihood of many social, medical and mental health problems.
An overview of these concepts and the latest implications for change in systems at the community level will be discussed and presented.
