Gain new tools to support the mental health and wellness of young people on your campus with a free webinar series from the San Diego County Office of Education in partnership with Scripps Health and the Transforming Mental Health Initiative at Rady Children's Hospital.
District and school administrators, teachers, nurses, social workers, counselors, and other staff who support the mental health and wellness of students are welcome to attend the virtual lunchtime sessions. Register to join the mental health series from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to learn about the following topics.
Feb. 16: Depression, anxiety, and the mental health challenging facing students today will be discussed by Dr. Hilary Bowers, who will share how to recognize signs of depression and anxiety and classroom tools.
Feb. 23: Learn more about eating disorders with Dr. Tamara Maginot, who will explain how to identify the symptoms and get young people help.
March 2: Using a trauma-informed lens, pediatric psychologist Dr. Melanie Reis will share tips and tools for building stronger relationships with students, their families, and colleagues.
March 9: Explore the connection between vaping, cannabis use, and mental health in youth with Dr. Willough Jenkins, who will offer tools to connect students to help.
