Maybe you have heard about this initiative on one of the social networks or you followed the tour last year. If not, The Campaign to Heal Childhood Trauma is a grassroots partnership between Calo Programs and three leading, national attachment, trauma and adoption nonprofits; The Attachment and Trauma Network (ATN), The American Adoption Congress (AAC) and Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children (ATTACh). The purpose of this collaboration is to increase compassion and understanding for the lifelong impact of early life trauma often impacted by adoption and share a hope for healing. Besides taking the message on the road via a series of multi-city, mobile education tours that provide four hours of education and connection to hundreds of professionals, parents, clinicians and others. The tour also provides advocacy for the inclusion of Developmental Trauma Disorder in the next revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders commonly known as the DSM-5. Additionally, each stop provides multiple 30 minute breakout sessions and ends with a health fair to showcase a variety of local trauma informed services.
