Poverty is one of the most significant root causes of homelessness. Currently, people experiencing homelessness in Eau Claire have nowhere downtown to go during the day: the library has moved, Sojourner closes its doors during the day, even the gas station where they could get something to drink and go to the bathroom has closed.
A group of community members and local officials has partnered to create The Warming Center to give people a place to stay during the day. The Warming Center will start with Sundays and Christmas: December 24-26, January 1-2, and Sundays after, 7:45am-6:30pm. Shifts vary.
The need for volunteers is great! This season of giving, please consider serving the community in this important way. It is unsustainable and unacceptable that people are on the street during winter. Letβs work together as a community to make daytime shelter a reality.
Please sign up using the link below. We are looking for both experienced and non- experienced volunteers.
