Resiliency is the buzz word for 2018 in Del Norte County! Today, Del Norte's local newspaper featured the activities our community is doing around ACEs and Resiliency, including our upcoming CAPC Roundtable on April 14th. This is a landmark for our community! Thank you to all the amazing, passionate people who have joined together to bring us here.
Let's keep going!
From the article:
This year’s CAPC roundtable discussion will include a basic rundown of what ACEs are and what they mean, Wilder said. There will be a hands-on brain-building game to help adults understand what a child’s brain goes through during their first 8 years of life, she said.
“It’s a hands-on understanding of what’s going on for our youth as they experience life and what life has to throw at them,” she said.
Wilder said to her, being resilient is the ability to bounce back after experiencing some sort of trauma. The discussion will focus on how to help children be resilient.
“We can never get rid of trauma because trauma is different for each person,” she said. “But we can help minimize it (by focusing on) what we can really do to help ourselves, help our community and help our children be more resilient. It’s building those strong roots and that strong support network.”
