Trauma Informed Congregations - A Strategy Document
Hi Folks, I have recently been trained as an ACE Master Trainer through the Children's Trust of South Carolina . In the training we received materials from ACE Interface . My special interest is working with churches and ministries to educate and equip them to be better trauma-informed and to increase the resilience of members of their congregation and of the communities members they serve. Myself and another Master Trainer have presented information on ACEs to a small group of people at a...

Re: Faith Based Organizations Paragraph on the new Wikipedia Site
Hi, Dale. Thanks for adding this section! Could you change this sentence: The founder of this ministry was [motivatedhttp://acestoohigh.com/2012/03/13/ex-pastor-marries-science-bible-studies-to-heal-wounds-of-childhood-trauma/ motivated] to create a Bible study for Small groups. ....to read: The founder of this ministry combined the epidemiology of ACEs, the neurobiology of toxic stress and the Bible into a workbook and 12-week course that's being used by clergy in several states. And could...

Hi Jane, I'm happy to do that. I like your sentence better - a little more clinical. See the changes here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/..._Based_Organizations Be well, Dale

Thanks for making the changes, Dale. It's so great that you're a Wikipedia author. Can you add the link in that sentence? -- http://acestoohigh.com/2012/03...of-childhood-trauma/ And the sentence after it, I think it's supposed to be faith-based instead of faith abased. Cheers, J.

Jane, That article should probably be listed as a Reference, correct? I have not added a reference before. Could I get some help with that one? Dale

Re: Faith Based Organizations Paragraph on the new Wikipedia Site
I posted an ADDENDUM to the "Adverse Childhood Experiences Study" Wikipedia article, near the bottom of the page, but above the list of cited references. I regret I am not an "author" who had "created an [Wikipedia] account" beforehand....(Perhaps I'll create an account soon, just in case supplementary information "seems fitting". Thank You Dale, for this.

Re: Trauma Informed Congregations - A Strategy Document
Hi there! SO happy I found this faith-based ACE resource! I am putting together a simple basic presentation for a local congregation and I wanted to speak on creating a safe trauma-informed congregation. I was directed to this ACE faith-based focus. Could I use some of your work and of course, give credit where it is due? I am also putting together a resource list. Do you have any suggestions for faith-based books? I do not know many faith-based books for trauma survivors. Thank you!

Dear Dale, This looks very good. Raising awareness about the long-term effects of abuse (which eliminates the minimizing of an incident should it occur) and equipping the leadership and the members of the congregation with ways to prevent abuse are tangible ways to empower people to make appropriate responses should it occur. I especially like point 4c about sermons and Bible studies that explore this topic . It has to be brought out into the open! With my best, Dianne Darr Couts Survivor,...

HI Dianne, Thanks for the note... and I'm glad that you found the document helpful. The more we can inform people of faith about ACEs, the better equipped we can become to minister to those affected. ~ Dale

Podcast hosts?
Good morning, everyone. As a writer and speaker who has recovered from childhood, I advocate for children and survivors. Can any of you recommend faith-based podcast hosts who are currently looking for guests to speak about ACES and/or healing from childhood abuse/trauma? Thanks and happy Easter! 1988 U.S. Congressional Resolution #331 acknowledges the role of the Iroquois constitution in the development of our U.S. Constitution. The Iroquois constitution reportedly called for 'Generational Review'- I question whether they 'knew' about 'Trans-Generational Trauma' or conceptualized it differently. They reportedly availed Women the Rights to: Assert, Debate, VOTE, and Declare War beginning between 1095 and 1150 A.D. ..... They certainly used 'Villages' to raise children. I've yet to...
