A necessity to providing optimal care begins with training medical professionals to recognize ACEs and to understand the neurobiological, psychological and social impacts on the patients served. This allows the provider an avenue to develop an individual treatment plan based upon the patients needs and to reduce retraumatization or workplace violence.
Healthcare providers also need to reflect upon their personal experiences, building resilience, minimizing triggers and addressing self care when traumatized in the workplace.
