Franklin County Cares: Trauma-Informed Community Initiative (MO)

We support trauma-informed services and community education. We believe that trauma-informed care will build stronger families and stronger communities.

What is Franklin County Cares?

Who Are We?

Franklin County Cares is a group of mental health and human service providers that understands the importance of getting to the root of behaviors, so we can create a better future for our children, stronger families, and unified communities. Our hope is that as we grow, we will be joined by medical health professionals, community members, business people, educators, and others.

ACE’s and What They Are

If you haven’t heard of the ACEs study, now is a good time to learn! ACEs stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences. The original study surveyed over 17,000 people in the San Diego area, asking people to share personal traumatic experiences that occurred in their childhood. Through the data collected, Felitti and Anda found that ACEs are common and that people with higher ACE scores are more likely to experience major health issues, including heart disease, depression, chronic lung disease, cancer, and a shortened life span.

What is Our Goal?

Our goal is to link children, families, and individuals to trauma-informed services in Franklin County to address the unique needs of people negatively impacted by traumatic experiences. We believe that informing the community about the prevalence of trauma and getting people the help they need to heal will not only strengthen families but will strengthen our community.
