Hey friends, I hope you all enjoyed the last few weeks with all the holidays and family time that comes with it. Hopefully some rest was had as well.
As we get into 2019, we’ll continue on with our important work of learning together as we try to help Fresno County be a more Trauma Informed network of communities. I feel like we are just on the beginning stages of our work but when I talk to folks from other counties, they are amazed that we actually have a network of individuals from over 40 organizations/institutions the meet monthly AND we’ve had both a Trauma and Resilience conference in 2018. So I guess we may be already on a good path. Thanks for all your commitment to our kids, families and neighborhoods, I KNOW we’ll be in a better place by the end of 2019!
From our last network meeting, we are trying to better understand what it actually means to be Trauma Informed. What are the criteria to say that you are. Looks like other parts of the country have been looking at this too. We’ll discuss what they are learning at our next meeting.
NEXT MEETING—FRIDAY FEBRUARY 1ST FROM 8:30-10AM I’ll host at my downtown office 1719 L Street 93721 (near L and San Joaquin) My admin Cassie will send you a calendar invite next week for this meeting.
I’m still looking for other locations that can accommodate around 30-40 people if you would like to host sometime this year. Based on the Doodle we sent out Friday mornings were still the best option so we’ll stick with that. We’ll most likely have, on average, 1 meeting a month.
I’ll be emailing you all in a couple of weeks some thoughts to process as we get closer to the Feb 1st meeting. I’m working closely with Gail Kennedy from ACE’s Connection in Sacramento as she’s be a great resource of information to me and our network. She’s helping to coach me along as we navigate our work in Fresno County.
In the meantime, I hope you all have an amazing start to 2019!!!
