Substance Exposed Infant (SEI) Awareness Week

July 2 - July 8, 2017 is Substance Exposed Infant (SEI) Awareness Week.

Approximately 100,000 babies are born in Virginia every year and, according to national estimates, about 10,000 of them are substance exposed in utero. The 2017 General Assembly passed a resolution when they met early this year declaring that, beginning July 1, 2017 and every year thereafter, the first week in July will be considered Substance Exposed Infant ( SEI) Awareness Week.
