Please welcome our newest community sub-group to ACES Connection. I am planning to reach out to them and develop a New Zealand/Hawai'i connection.
The greeting message from the New Zealand ACES Community Manager:
Kia ora,
I was born and raised in NZ and I live in Papakura which is located in South Auckland.
I am a mother of four beautiful children and grandmother of three granddaughters with more to come. I am Maori (indigenous people of NZ) and whakapapa to Ngati Kahu ki Whangaroa Ngati Kahu ki Whangaroa is in the Far North of the North Island of NZ
A very beautiful place with beautiful beaches including Taupo Bay, the area from where my whanau (family) come from.
ACE and Trauma-informed NZ is a safe place for all to be seen and heard, to connect, to reach out, and to learn about and become trauma-informed; to gain strength and courage through solidarity. A place where we can learn from and share with each other; enabling us to be seen and heard and gain an understanding of each other. A place where we can realise that we are not alone. Solidarity creates power through human connection. In NZ, there are many things happening, and much research conducted but that information is lost if it is inaccessible to those that it could benefit. Sharing enables us to have access to shared knowledge and build off that knowledge.
I invite you to join me on this site to share resources, articles, knowledge, stories about ACEs science and trauma-informed practices and policies. And I urge you to connect with others here - add comments and reactions to others posts. And reach out to me to learn more about bringing this information to your friends, families, organizations and communities across NZ.
In solidarity, we have the power to make the impossible possible. Join me in creating a trauma-responsive NZ within a trauma-responsive world within our lifetime. It is our minds and who we are, not money and prestige, that when connected together in solidarity creates the power to transform. To create a better future for our children and their children.
