Stockton Schools Initiative focuses on social and emotional learning from a trauma informed perspective

“One of our missions is having uncomfortable and courageous conversations with families and the community on school climate,” she said. “We’re excited to share their perspective and knowledge surrounding the topics.”

Among those joining the six-person panel include newly elected Stockton Unified Area 2 Trustee AngelAnn Flores; Gauri Sanchez, from the Stockton Trauma Recovery program; Kimberly Warmsley, a clinical therapist; and Deputy District Attorney Kevin Rooney.

“We need to be very strategic and very intentional on how we go about dealing with instances that happen in the classroom and in developing both social and emotional choices that impact people and what it means to belong to a community,” said Zapata.
